Evangelical Lutheran Church in Denmark : ウィキペディア英語版
Church of Denmark

The Church of Denmark or Danish National Church ((デンマーク語:Den Danske Folkekirke'' or simply ''Folkekirken), literally: "the People's Church"), formally known in English as the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Denmark, is the state church and largest denomination in Denmark and Greenland. Since the Reformation in Denmark, the Church has been Evangelical Lutheran, while retaining much of its pre-Reformation liturgical traditions. , 77.8% of the population of Denmark are members of the Church of Denmark.〔(Church membership 1990-2015 ) Kirkeministeriet 〕
The 1849 Constitution of Denmark designated the church "the Danish people's church".〔According to the Constitution of Denmark § 4, "the Evangelical-Lutheran Church is the Danish people's church and is supported as such by the State" ("den evangelisk-lutherske kirke er den danske folkekirke og understøttes som sådan af staten")〕 The church is financially supported by the state, but membership is voluntary.〔(State fundings to the National Church ) . Retrieved 21 January 2011〕〔(Freedom of religion and religious communities in Denmark ), Ministry of Ecclesiastical Affairs. Retrieved 21 January 2011.〕 The reigning monarch is the supreme authority, but not the head, of the Church,〔(kristendom.dk - "Dronningen og forholdet til folkekirken" ) - In Danish.〕 with the Minister for Ecclesiastical Affairs, currently Bertel Haarder, as the highest administrative authority of the Church.
Unlike many Protestant churches, the Church of Denmark continues to maintain the historical episcopate. Theological authority is vested in bishops: ten bishops in mainland Denmark, each overseeing a cathedral, and one from Greenland. There is no archbishop; the Bishop of Copenhagen acts as a ''primus inter pares''.
==Organization==

Having no arch-bishop, the church is organized in 11 dioceses, each led by a bishop, including one for Greenland (the Faroe Islands was a twelfth diocese until 29 July 2007). There are no archbishops; the most senior bishop (''primus inter pares'') is the Bishop of Copenhagen, currently Peter Skov-Jakobsen. The further subdivision includes 111 deaneries and 2,200 parishes. There are about 2,400 priests.
